In the first title defense fight for the WBC and the Ring magazine SUPER Flyweight titles, Juan Francisco Estrada was able to beat his challenger Dewayne Beamon at home.
With this win, Estrada now extends his career record for 40 wins as he won this fight with a 9th-round TKO win in front of the fans of his hometown; Hermosillo, Mexico.
Beamon, the 2-weight champ was able to land a left hook on Estrada win the lively opener only because the champ at home was caught on a wrong foot.
The 2nd round saw both fighters letting their hands go down for defense but it was Beamon who suffered the 2 sudden knockdowns in this round before he finished with a strong counter.
Beamon took an aggressive approach in 3rd round but it was Estrada who replied back with a variety of his punches to wobble his challenger. ‘the 4th round then saw the American challenger dealing some clubbing blows on his opponent to put him on ropes and also to land a right-hand punch on his head.
Estrada was then caught by a left hook to the head in the 5th and approved his opponent with a nod as Beamon seemed to be enjoying his time in the ring but the 6th round was an even one where both fighters exchanged equal punches.
It was in the 7th round that Beamon had to stop smiling after the damage was done to him with an uppercut and a body shot but was still able to stand until the end of the fight on his unsteady feet.
Estrada paced himself in the 8th before taking an aggressive barrage of right-hand punches to take control of the fight and raging up the home crowd.
In the start of the 9th round, defending champion delivered a straight right to rock Beamon and then switched to southpaw and landed another right followed by a flurry of punches that were answered. The referee intervened at that point to call the fight off in Estrada’s win.
