Juan Martin del Potro has withdrawn from the next week’s US Open

The former winner of the US open is not going to participate in this year’s US Open as he still trying to recover from his knee surgery according to organizers of the tournament.

The champion of the 2009’s tournament had a re-fracture of his knee during his match of the Queen’s Club Championships held back in June which had previously plagued his career as well.

The world-ranked no. 12 also missed the last Grand Slam event of the year Wimbledon after his scans showed the fracture of his right patella and or that he had to undergo a surgery.

Del Potro after having his last success at Flushing Meadows back in 2009, he has undergone 3 wrist surgeries for left hand and 1 for the right wrist but every time he has made it back to fight in the ATP Tour.

Last year, he made it to the final of the US Open and also won the Masters 1000 tournament of Indian Well. However, he said on social media that he is unsure if this injury will mark the end of his career or not.

His spot in the US open’s men’s draw is being replaced by Denis Kudla of America. The wildcard entry that was previously for Kudla is now being given to another American player Chris Eubanks.

The Last Grand Slam of tennis is set to start on Monday, August 26th, 2019.
