Justin Wayne, the Former Marlins pitcher and his brother get jail time for insurance fraud

In the latest news, a Florida Marlins team’s pitcher who happened to be with the team back in 2003 when they won the World Series has been sentenced to serve four years of imprisonment after he pled guilty for an insurance scam.

The name of this former Florida Marlins pitcher is Justin Wayne. According to the Palm Beach media sources, Justin and his brother Hawkeye Wayne were both involved in this health care fraud. Both brothers have pled guilty to the charges on Thursday morning and also paid in about 3.8 million dollars in reimbursement.

Despite pleading guilty and reimbursing, both brothers got serious jail time. Hawkeye got 5 years in jail and Justin got 4 years in jail. Brothers have till March to report for their sentences. There is also an option of a reduced sentence for the brothers if they testify against the alleged original ringleaders behind this scam.

The brothers owned a testing lab. According to prosecutors, a drug testing company would send them urine samples of the patients on which they conducted unneeded testing. They would later bill the insurance companies and enjoy the part of the insurance proceeds.

Justin Wayne; the Hawaii native is a graduate of the Harvard University. He played for the Florida Marlins from 2002 to 2008.
