Things had not been going easy for Jusuf Nurkic since the past half a dozen games this season, even if it appears to be.
However, he was able to lead the Trail Blazers on Monday night with his 20 points to win over the New York nicks by 111-101. This was Nurkic’s fourth game in a row where he scored 20 or more points.
He has been on a role as he is averaging in 21 points and 11.8 rebounds per game in the last six games for the Trail Blazers.
Nurkic said, “I work hard for this. I got in foul trouble tonight but I still kept myself in the game. We won the game so it is all good.”
Damian Lillard of the Trail Blazers added in his 17 points and 9 assists while CJ McCollum scored 17 points too for the team. With this win, Portland Trail Blazers have now won 4 of their last 5 games.
As for the New York Knicks, they were led by Enes Kanter who scored 18 points with 14 rebounds which was his third straight double-double for the team. However, with this defeat, Knicks have lost 9 of their last 10 games.
Knicks coach David Fizdale said of Nurkic, “their big guy is a beast. He is huge. He is like a mountain. You cannot move him and on top of it, he is so nimble. He has no off balance. He not only sees the floor well but also finished around the rim pretty well.”
Nurkic finished with 8 rebounds in this game, just shy of his 21st double-double of the season.
Nurkic talking about his performance said, “I always feel confident, ever before. However you never know, sometimes shot go in and sometimes they don’t”.
Up next, New York Knicks will play against the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night whereas Portland Trial Blazes will play against the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night.
