While Porter Jr. was back, Bulls were in for one last play and they managed to preserve their victory.
Zach LaVine led the Bulls on Wednesday night with his 39 points along with his go-ahead shot in the final seconds of the game to beat the Philadelphia 76ers by 108-107.
Bulls under LaVine’s lead who scored 13 points in the fourth quarter eased through a 10 point deficit to get a win they won’t be forgetting any time soon. Both of the teams were called back to the court after a premature buzzer was sounded.
By the time the word of this buzzer got out, Porter has been long gone.
He said, “People were looking for me. They could not find me but then they found me. By that time, it was already too late.”
Bulls trailed for 107-106 after Jimmy Butler scored 2 free throws from the 76ers side with only 4.8 seconds left to the game. However, after a timeout, LaVine inbounded and made a go-ahead shot with 1.9 seconds remaining to the game.
After the buzzer was sounded both teams walked out and fans started to fill into the court. However, the problem was that the horn was sounded even before anyone touched the ball.
After a quick review, referees put on an extra 0.5 s3eocnds to the clock. However, with this one more chance, 76ers came short as an inbound pass fell short of the hands of Jimmy Butler. Tobias Harris said, “It felt like losing twice in a single game.”
Butler led the 76ers against his former team while Ben Simmons scored 18 points with 11 rebounds and 7 assists. With this defeat, 76ers are now one game behind the Toronto Raptors in the Eastern Conference. Since the All-Star break ended, 76ers are 4-3 as their All-Star center Joel Embiid is out due to a sore knee.
Up next, 76ers will play against Houston Rockets on Friday while Bulls will host a game against the Denver Nuggets on Friday night.
