LeBron James’ final shot blocked by Mario Hezonja as Knicks defeated Lakers

The season had been very turbulent for Mario Hezonja with New York Knicks due to his inconsistent performance on the court.

Still, on Sunday night, he performed splendidly in the closing seconds as he stood against Los Angeles Lakers’ star player LeBron James and blocked his shot that might have ended the game in Knicks’ defeat.

James managed to go beyond the perimeter by dribbling the ball in the final seconds of the game. He crossed 3-pointer range and was going to make the shot when Hezonja struck at him.

James got to the left block of the court and put up for a shot but Hezonja spread his arm and got one of his hands over the ball and managed to block the shot.

As he blocked the shot, time expired and Knicks were able to seal their win over the Lakers by 124-123 at the Madison Square Garden on Sunday night. With this win, Knicks have now ended their 8-game losing streak as they defeated Lakers for the 2nd time this season.

Hezonja singed 1 year deal with Knicks who are currently 14-56 on the season, during offseason. He had not played for the team since February 13th. He had suffered from a leg injury that sidelined him for nearly 8 of Knicks games.

He then got his chance to play on Sunday after Noah Vonleh injured his ankles during Knicks last game on Friday against the San Antonio Spurs.

As for Lakers’ LeBron James, he still managed to put on an impressive play for the team with him scoring 33 points. In addition to this, he also managed to have 6 rebounds as well as 8 assists.

Still, he was not able to make the necessary shots as he went 4 of 15 during the fourth quarter and missed three crucial shots in the last minute of the game.
