Lewis Hamilton in lead at the Practice Two of United States GP

Lewis Hamilton made a positive start on his historic United States GP weekend by having an impressive pace at the Practice 2 of the race held in Austin, Texas.

Lewis Hamilton only requires 4 more points in order for him to be crowned as the world champion for the 6th consecutive year in his Sunday’s race. In Practice 2 of the United States GP, he finished 3 tenths of a second faster than Ferrier’s driver Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen of Red Bull on the circuit which he has won for the 5 times in his career.

Despite not having the clear tow during the middle sector of the race, he still had an impressive pace. It was actually Ferrari’s Leclerc who caught the key in the race with his heavier fuel.  Leclerc said about Hamilton’s soft tire, “I cannot do that.”

As for Verstappen who finished 3rd in the practice race, he was actually the quickest of the 3 leading drivers.

As for the 4th, 5th and 6th place in the practice race, it went to Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari, Valtteri Bottas of Mercedes and Alex Albon of Red Bull respectively.

During the race simulation, Vettel did spin off but was still able to continue back on the circuit and thus completed his session.

As for Toro Rosso, Pierre Gasly was the fastest drive in the midfield. The Frenchman was able to maintain his season’s impressive form since his return to the Toro Rosso as he finished at 7th place. Carlos Sainz of McLaren was ever consistent with his 8th place finish while Lance Stroll of Racing Point finished at 9th place.
