Manchester City seems to be closing in on another Premier League title while Manchester United seems unlikely to be even making it into the top 4 of the league.
In a match played between two of the fierce rivals, City managed to win over United by 2-0 thanks to the goals scored by Bernardo Silva and substitute Leroy Sane on Wednesday at Old Trafford.
With the 11th straight victory in the league, City now moves up in the league with 1 point above the Liverpool. Only three games left for this season for City in their efforts to bid for the chance to retain the trophy since United did back in 2009.
As for United, they suffered their 7th loss in their last 9 matches under the coaching of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Solskjaer said, “This about the difference in the quality. This is the reason that they are currently at top and we are where we are right now. They have set themselves a standard. Living in Manchester, we cannot be happy with it. It is up to us to close that gap and overtake them.”
Manchester United has not scored a goal in their last 572 minutes of open play and it very unlikely that I will happen soon.
As for Manchester City, the managed to bounce back from their Champions League elimination at hands of Tottenham last week. However, with back to back wins over Spurs and United, they have taken their win streak of the league to 11 matches.
Guardiola said, “I think that this is the most incredible detail for these players. You cannot imagine how tough it was for them to get out of this beautiful competition. Under the pressure we felt, we managed to stay alive in the Premier League and that is the most important thing than anything else for us.”
