As Manchester United trailed by 3-0 in the derby match of the League Cup semifinals, the players of United were jeered at by their won supporters by halftime.
It was as Ole Gunnar attested after the 3-1 loss of Manchester United to Manchester City in League Cup game; the team had their worst 45 minutes of this season. This was the loss that has opened up a huge difference between the blue and red half of Manchester.
In the end, the derby of League Cup semifinals held between Manchester United and Manchester City ended with a 3-1 win for Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola, the manager for Manchester City said, “Of course, Manchester City can make a comeback. They have their shirt which means pride and history.”
But one thing Guardiola should remember is that this League Cup semifinal is now over.
Manchester City was able to take the lead in the first half as their players scored goals from 19th to 38th minute and looked they were on scoring target every time they moved forward. United was not able to cope up with the aggressive approach of Manchester City.
Solskjaer said, “We could not deal with their system well enough.”
When Manchester City was at 3-0 by Andreas Pereira, fans remembered the 6-1 win of the team that was given to them by Roberto Mancini back in 2011. This was the first time since 1997 that Manchester United has conceded 3 goals in the first half of a match played at the Old Trafford.
Still, they were able to not let City make any more goal and the strike from Marcus Rashford allowed for them o have a goal of their own during the 70th minute.
Solskjaer said, “We have shown earlier that we have been down from the home tie earlier and turned it around. PSG is the latest example in that regard and we believe that we can put a performance.”
