Mark Davis; the Oakland Raiders owner calls the lawsuit by City of Oakland ‘Meritless and malicious’

The city of Oakland has filed a lawsuit against the NFL team Oakland Raiders. Mike Davis, the team owner calls this lawsuit by City as ‘meritless and malicious’.

This federal lawsuit was filed and announced by the Oakland City Attorney Barbara J. Parker for the alleged charges of antitrust violations and breach of contract. The lawsuit not only names Oakland Raiders but also the NFL and every other team of the league.

The city of Oakland does not forces or wants the team to remain in Oakland but they do demand the restitution for the loss of revenue, remaining debt for the renovations of the Oakland Coliseum, court costs, and fees plus the punitive damages.

Parker released a statement to media that, “City is looking to a resolution with the maximum amount of damages available. This lawsuit is not to force the team to stay in Oakland or prevent them from moving to Las Vegas.”

This lawsuit alleges that NFL is strong-arming the host cities into shelling out their money for new stadiums and even threatens to move a team out of the city should the fund not be raised.

Mike Davis, the Raiders owner said to media, “I have got two words to say for this lawsuit and I have already used them the other day. One is meritless and other is malicious which attorneys will understand. I will leave the talking here and let the attorneys do the rest of the speaking”.

The last game of Oakland Raiders team at the Coliseum will be held on the Christmas Eve against the Denver Broncos.
