Miami Open; Ashleigh Barty and Karolina Pliskova to face each other in the final

The brilliant week for Ashleigh Barty continues as she sets up the Miami Open final against Karolina Pliskova.

 

Barty, the Australian player defeated Anett Kontaviet by 6-3 and 6-3 earlier in the Thursday’s semifinals whereas Pliskova managed to defeat Simona Halep by 7-5 and 6-1.

Barty earlier in her quarterfinals match against Petra Kvitova, managed to rise to her career-best WTA Top 10 ranking after winning their match.

Playing in the rain-soaked semifinals and winning it, Barty has now reached the biggest match of her career yet. To this, she said, “I am so proud of myself and in my team for trusting the process and enjoying this journey with me. I am really excited to be in this position.”

As for her final’s opponent, Pliskova, she said, “I think Barty has a completely different style as compared to the other girls I played. She has not only a slice backhand but also a good serve along with the fact that she can move really well on the court. I think, she understands the game very well.”

She further said, “I need to accept that she is playing well and to know that I can still beat her.”
