Miami Open; Britain’s Cameron Norrie out of the tournament in first round

Cameron Norrie who was going for a straight sets win in the openings sets failed to gain an advantage over it and was tumbled out of the Mia Open at the first round.

 

The British no. 2 Norrie was playing against the Australian player Jordan Thompson who defeated him by 4-6, 7-6 and 6-3.

23 years old Norrie, earlier this month managed to break into the world ranking of Top 50 for the first time in his professional career. He made it there by going into the semi-finals of Mexico Open but he also lost in the first round of the Indian Wells.

As for British no. 1 Kyle Edmund he had earlier received a bye to the 2nd round of the Miami Open where he will be facing Belarusian player Ilya Ivashka who earlier on Thursday defeated Italy’s Thomas Fabbiano by 6-4, 1-6 and 6-3.

As for the first round of the Women’s draw, Johanna Konta faces Jessica Pegula.

As for the champion of the Indian Wells, Bianca Andreescu, she managed to keep up her performance consistent as she defeated Irina-Camelia Begu by 4-6, 7-6 and 6-2 to set herself for a second-round match.
