Miami Open; British duo of Dan Evans and Jay Clarke cruise into final round of qualifying

Dan Evans and Jay Clarke’s British duo has cruised into the final round of the qualifying in the Miami Open by straight sets win.

Evans, the world no. 97 and the 13th seed of the tournament managed to defeat his Japanese opponent Tatsuma by 7-5 and 6-1. As for the 20 years old wildcard Clarke, he defeated his Slovakian opponent Jozef Kovalik by 6-2 and 6-3.

Evans will now play against the Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan in his bid to book himself a spot at the tournament’s main draw. As for the British no. 5 and world rank no. 196 Clarke he will be playing against the Indian player Prajnesh Gunneswaran.

As for the women’s draw, the British trio of Katie Boulter, Heather Watson, and Harriet Dart all suffered from an early exit.

Katie Boulter, the British no. 2 and the sixth seed of the tournament was defeated by her Czech opponent Marie Bouzkova by 6-4 and 6-2.

As for Watson, she lost to her American 17th seed opponent Madison Brengle by 6-7, 6-3 and 6-4. Dart suffered the defeat at hands of German player Mona Barthel by 3-6, 6-4 and 7-6.
