Miami Open; Dan Evans gets lucky but Jay Clarke fails to make it into the main draw

The British duo comprised of Dan Evans and Jay Clarke both suffered loss at the final round of the Miami Open qualifiers. However, Evans made it into the main draw by being the Lucky Loser.

Dan Evans, the British no. 3 was up against Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan on the sunny skies of Wednesday at the venue of Hard Rock Stadium. Evans lost the match by 6-4 and 6-4.

28 years old Evans who earlier had one point deduction as he struck a water bottle was able to make it into the main draw as the lucky loser.

In the first main draw round of Miami Open, he will be playing against the Tunisian player Malek Jaziri on Thursday.

As for 20 years old wildcard of the tournament Clarke, he also got defeated by Indian player Prajnesh Gunneswaran by 6-4 and 6-4.

As for British no. 2 Cameron Norrie, he will be playing against the Australian player Jordan Thompson. As for British no. 1 Kyle Edmund, he gets a bye to the 2nd round where he will play either Belarusian Ilya Ivashka or Italy’s Thomas Fabbiano.

On the Women’s draw, Victoria Azarenka won her first match against Dominika Cibulkova by 6-2, 3-6 and 6-4.

As for Briton Johanna Konta, she will be facing a match against the American player Jessica Pegula.
