Mosconi Cup: Team USA beats Team Europe to retain the trophy

The Mosconi Cup is retained by Team USA after they gained the 11-8 win over Team Europe this Thanksgiving night in a tournament held at the Mandalay Bay Resort located in Las Vegas.

Team US was aiming to win the Mosconi Cup in the same manner as they did back in London for last year as they started the day with 8-7 lead. The decisive moment came in 7th as Shaw made the 3 Ball to drop in the pocket but then rattle the draw and allowed for Thorpe to take the rack and run out for the win in the next.

Eklent Kaci for Team Europe hit back with style as he defeated Tyler Styer by 5-1. The tournament’s momentum then falls back in hands of the home side as Shane van Boening won over Alexander Kazakis by 5-3 to take the score up for Team US by 10-8 on their way to retain the Mosconi Cup.

Next from Team Europe’s side was Joshua Filler as man expected that he would narrow this deficit. But then Skyler Woodward was the one that ended the game with 5-3 win and sealed it for the Team US’s favor for the Mosconi Cup. Skyler Woodward, with this last win, secured the title of the MVP for the second time in a row.

Skyler Woodward said afterward, “Today I came out here completely focused and ready to play and I had a hunch that I would play against Filler. From the start, I was saying that I wanted to play against Filler. I would not want any other team than I have right now. We have lost 8 times in a row but now we won the Cup 2 times in a row. This is the best team and we are all good friends.”
