Sandor Martin beats Joe Hughes beaten to win the European Super Lightweight title fight

The battle for the European Super Lightweight title held on Friday night between Sandor Martin and Joe Hues is won by Sandor Martin. Hughes suffered the unanimous points’ decision defeat against Sandor Martin in a fight held in Barcelona.

Hughes struggled against the clever counters of Sandor Martin who relied heavily on evasive foot movement and punching. All three ringside judges scored the fight in favor of Sandor Martin with scores of 119-109, 119-109 and 117-111.

For Hughes, he was entering this battle in order to win it once more having lost it back in March in a fight against Robbie Davies Jnr. The 29 years old Wiltshire man tried his best to take n aggressive approach from the get-go of the fight. But Sandor Martin was in refusal of letting Hughes take a foothold in the fight. Martin replied back with his won combinations that dazzled his opponent and then he evaded even the desperate last-minute attempts of Hughes who was looking for a stoppage win.

As for another fight on the very same bill in Barcelona, the European Welterweight title defense fight between the champ David Avanesyan and Jose Del Rio ended with David retaining the title. He defeated the opponent with a first-round KO to finish the fight in a dominant manner.

Britain residing Russian fighter took the aggressive approach from the opening round as he dropped his Spanish opponent for the count with a devastating body shot. With this win, David is now on track to have a showdown against his rival Josh Kelly.

Eddie Hearn, the promoter for Josh Kelly told media after the fight that his client has agreed to face off Avanesyan. But before this fight, Josh Kelly will be having a high profile fight in Phoenix on the bull of Daniel Jacobs VS Julio Chavez Jr. this fight will be held on 20th December.
