Seth Curry led the Portland Trail Blazers with his season-high 20 points to beat the Chicago Bulls by 118-98 on Wednesday night.
Portland Trail Blazers who were still reeling from the disastrous and devastating injury of Jusuf Nurkic from earlier the night against their win against Brooklyn Nets managed to make short of the shorthanded Bulls.
Curry scored 4 3-pointer shots while Rodney Hood added in his 15 points with Enes Kanter and Zach Collins both scoring 13 points each. With this win, Portland has now won 5 games in a row and has secured their 6th spot in the playoffs. Still, Damien Lillard scored his season-low of 11 points in this game.
Seeing Nurkic gave Trail Blazers the lift they needed. Curry said, “It was cool to hear him despite there being some audio problems. It was a little awkward. The volume was not working right and we could not hear him. Still, it was good to know that we were thinking about him when we were heading into the game. That pregame huddle was a good motivation for the team.”
As for Chicago Bulls, they were led by Shaquille Harrison who scored his career-high of 21 points and 10 rebounds while Robin Lopez scored his 15 points along with 9 rebounds. With this loss, Bulls have now lost 9 of their last 10 games.
After the game, Chicago Bulls announced that their forward Lauri Markkanen will be missing the remainder of the season due to suffering from rapid heart rate as well as fatigue.
Markkanen is just one in the long list of absent Chicago players like Wendell Carter Jr., Chandler Hutchison, and Denzel Valentine. They all will be missing the remainder of the regular season due to season-ending injuries they sustained.
Up next, Trail Blazers will be playing against Atlanta Hawks on Friday night while Chicago Bulls will be hosting a game against the Toronto Raptors on Saturday night.
