SheBelieves Cup; England wins by 3-0 over Japan

In the final of the SheBelieves Cup played between England and Japan, England scored 3 goals in the first 30 minutes of the game as they went on to defeat Japan by 3-0 on Tuesday night to win the tournament.

Lucy Staniforth scored a goal from the front with 12 minutes into the game which was her second international goal to give an early lead to England. In the 23rd minute, Karen Carney scored the second goal before Beth Mead scored the third goal to give England an absolute lead.

England who is ranked no. 4 in the world was coming off of a draw against the USA in Nashville Tennessee by 2-2 after they earlier defeated Brazil by 2-1 in the opener at Chester, Pennsylvania. With the two victories, England won the tournament on points.

Against Japan, Carly Telford of England started while against the USA, Karen Bardsley started the game.

As for eighth ranked Japan, they were coming off on a 3-1 win against Brazil and a 2-2 draw against the USA.
