Tom Wilson; Capitals forward’s 20-game suspension has been reduced to 14 games

The 20 games suspension of Capitals forward player; Tom Wilson has been reduced to a mere 14 games from a decision by an independent arbitrator. Wilson was serving this suspension after he gave a blow to the head of a St. Lois forward player Oskar Sundqvoist’s head.

The incident happened on 30 September in the preseason’s game.

Wilson who has already served 16 games suspension is now going to immediately resume his position in the team. With the arbitrator’s decision, Wilson is going to reclaim the 378,000 dollars in salary which he was otherwise going to miss out.

Wilson’s 20 games suspension was held by Commissioner Gary Bettman. However, Wilson made an appeal in front of an independent judge as his right by NHL.

20 games suspension of Wilson is one of the longest suspensions in all of NHL’s history. Wilson had suffered four suspensions in the past 14 months.

Wilson, in the previous season, had 35 points in 78 games and also made 15 points in 21 playoff games with Capitals when they won the Stanley Cup.
