As Karl-Anthony is now sidelined for one whole month from Minnesota Timberwolves’ opening lineup, the team needed to find more ways to make up for his scoring spree. They have also tightened up the things on their defensive end as their big man is in absence.
This was certainly a tough case for the Minnesota Timberwolves in their Thursday night game against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Andrew Wiggins scored 23 points while Gorgui Dieng scored 12 points with 10 rebounds as the Wolves defeated Trail Blazers by 116-102.
Minnesota Timberwolves seemed to have smothering he Trail Blazers for all night long as they held them to 13 points during the 2nd quarter which is the most fewer points that Trail Blazers has scored in a quarter this year.
Josh Okogie, the guard of Timberwolves said, “We have discovered our identity and it is that our defense is going to carry us. That is just we need to have every night now.”
Damien Lillard was the one taking lead for Trail Blazers with his 20 points while Hassan Whiteside and CJ McCollum both scored 15 points each.
Thursday game was the last of the Trail Blazers’ 5-game road trip. Lillard said, “Overall we were feeling a little tired but it usually happens at the end of a road trip when you are aware that you will be going home after the final game. We have been on the road for a long time and we simply did not have the energy that we were in need of tonight.”
Terry Stotts, the coach for Trail Blazers said, “They gained the momentum when the 3rd quarter started and then all of a sudden it was the 20-point game. It is pretty deflating for a team when this happens.”
Up next, Trail Blazers will host the game on Saturday night against the Milwaukee Bucks while Timberwolves will play on Saturday night against the Houston Rockets.
