Roger Federer, in his career’s 40th match against Rafael Nadal for the semifinals match at the Wimbledon, was able to defeat the Spaniard. With this win, Federer has now finally secured himself a spot for the Wimbledon final for the 12th time in his career.
These both world-class players had not played against each other at the All England Club since their match back in 2008 which Nadal won. However, it was Federer this time who came out on top as he defeated the Spaniard by 7-6, 1-6, 6-3 and 6-4.
Federer, who had previously lost last 4 of his Grand Slam semifinal matches was able to win this one at the Centre Court in a match that went on for almost 3 hours and 2 minutes.
Up next, the 20 times Grand Slam champion and world rank no. 1 Federer will face the current world rank no. 1 Novak Djokovic in the final of Wimbledon that will be played on Sunday. Federer is bidding to win his record 9th Wimbledon title this year.
