Women’s mile world record broken by Sifan Hassan at Monaco

Sifan Hassan, the Dutch runner has managed to break the record for Women’s mile run in the Diamond League race held in Monaco.

The 26 years old sprinter was able to clock the time of 4:12.33 seconds which broke the proviso record time of 4:12.56 that was set by the Russian sprinter Svetlana Masterkova back in 1996.

The race which was held at the Stade Louis II was named to be the “Brave like Gabe Mile” for honoring America’s former middle-distance runner named Gabe Grunewald. Gabe Grunewald died last month at age of 32 years old suffering from cancer.

Earlier in February, Hassan had already broken the world record for the 5 km road race held in Monaco.

As for the 2nd place, it went to the British sprinter Laura Weightman who finished for his personal best at a time of 4:17.60. As for Ciara Mageean from Northern Ireland, she finished at 8th place with her personal best time of 4:19.03.

In the men’s 800 meter race, the best performance was shown by the Nijel Amos of Botswana who broke the meeting record with his time of 1:41.89. This is the fastest time recorded over this distance since the final of 2012 Olympics.

In the men’s 1500 meter race, the Charlie Grice of Great Britain finished for a time of 3.30.62 at the 4th place. Still, it was the fourth-best time ever by a British sprinter which is only behind athletes such as Mo Farah, Sebastian Coe, and Steve Cram.
