The direct rematch between Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury has been sanctioned by the World Boxing Council (WBC).
Fury went down on floor twice in the last match in LA but he seemed to have done enough to earn him quite a famed win.
However, he was forced to accept a controversial split decision draw for the match.
Promoter Frank Warren and BBB of C (British Boxing Board of Control) planned to issue a formal complaint against the third judge; a Mexican judge named Alejandro Rochin who scored the fight 115-111 for Wilder.
After that WBC released a statement on Friday that there will be a “direct rematch”.
The statement reads, “WBC conducted a voting of the board of governors and it resulted in a unanimous decision to sanction a direct rematch between the WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury”.
“In Wilder vs. Fury fight, both boxers gave one of the best boxing fights in the heavyweight division in a long time. This has created a tremendous demand from the fans to see this rematch.”
“WBC is happy to confirm that this direct rematch is approved. I once again wish both Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury for their great battle inside the ring and for their exemplary sportsmanship in the bout”.
