Charlie Culberson, the infielder of Braves got hit in the face with a pitch and is now hospitalized

Charlie Culberson, the infielder of the MLB team Atlanta Braves had to be transported to the hospital in Washington after he was hit with a pitch to his face following the Saturday night win of Braves by 10-1 against the Washington Nationals.

Culberson got struck with the pitch at a speed of 91 mph directly onto his cheekbone during the 7th inning. The pitch was being made by the reliever of Nationals, Fernando Rodney.

Following the hit, Culberson immediately went crashing on to the ground as the medical personnel of Braves rushed to the field to help him.

Blood was dripping down his nose before a towel was pressed against his face and he was taken away from the field on a cart and then to a hospital.

Brian Snitker, the manager of Braves said, “He was good when we took him to the hospital. I mean he was alert and all of that other stuff. I think it was the bones around his eyes that got the damage. We do not know the extent of the hit. We are only praying for him and his family.  That is one scary thing to be hit in the face.”

Following the injury of Culberson, the Braves manager was also ejected on the play after he got in a fight with the plate umpire named Tim Timmons as well as Bill Welke, the first plate umpire. This is the 4th time that the manager of braves has been ejected out of a game while 13th in his entire career.

Snitker said, “You cannot bunt when the ball is coming straight towards your face. That’s just sound like…..Oh my God, I am not even going to get into talking about that. I am sitting here looking at this guy as the blood pools on the ground. And I am like Come On.”
