The AFC Championship game held between the Tennessee Titans and the Kansas City Chiefs ended in a 35-24 victory for the Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes leads the Kansas City Chiefs as the made it to the finals of the Super Bowl LIV for the first time in the franchise’s 50-year history.
Mahomes, the 3rd year QB for the Kansas City Chiefs made 35 passes of which 23 were completed for a total of 294 passing yards along with his 3 TDs. In addition to these stats, he also scored the team-high of 53 yards and 1 score to help improve their head coach Andy Reid’s game record for championship games to 2-5.
Running back for Tennessee Titans, Derrick Henry was held by Chiefs’ defense to only 69 yards along with 1 TD despite him having scored 180 yards in each of his last 3 games. As for their Titans’ QB Ryan Tannehill, he made 31 passes but could only complete 21 of them for 209 passing yards with 2 TDs.
On the opening drive, Greg Joseph gave the titans and early lead with his 3-yard field goal following the catch from their rookie wide receiver player AJ Brown.
As for Kansas City Chiefs, they got shutout on their opening drive following Mahomes getting sacked from Titans’ Kamlei Correa on their two-yard loss.
In the final quarter of the game, Titans were riddled with back-to-back penalties that include some pass interferences namely against Tramaine Brock which allowed for the Kansas City Chiefs to go down the clock that left the Titans 11-points down and out of their timeouts following the 2-minute warning.
To end it with style, the defense of Chiefs sacked Tannehill for his loss of 17 yards which will still be seen as one of his remarkable seasons with titans and for himself.
Up next, Chiefs will play for the title of Super Bowl LIV in Miami against the San Francisco 49ers who defeated Green Bay Packers in their NFC championship game.
