Terri Harper has made it clear that she has no interest in earning or receiving respect from Caroline Dubois, as the two British world champions continue their heated exchange of words ahead of their highly anticipated title fight. The bout, set to take place at Olympia London, will see the pair compete for the unified lightweight world championship in what promises to be an explosive encounter.

Rivalry Heats Up Before Fight Night

The tension between Harper and Dubois has been building steadily in the lead-up to Sunday’s clash. Dubois, 25, has played a key role in escalating the rivalry, openly questioning Harper’s accomplishments despite her decorated career as a three-weight world champion.

At the official press conference, both fighters attempted to downplay the verbal exchanges by stating that “talk is cheap.” However, it quickly became clear that neither was willing to back down, especially when discussions turned to their recent face-off.

During that moment earlier in the week, Harper pushed Dubois, a move that added fuel to an already intense rivalry. When asked who held the upper hand psychologically, Dubois responded with confidence, claiming she had won every mental battle so far and would continue to do so.

Dubois’ Confidence and Rising Reputation

Dubois enters the fight as one of the most promising talents in women’s boxing. With an unbeaten professional record of 13 fights—comprising 12 wins and one draw—she has quickly established herself as a rising star in the sport.

Her recent performances have further boosted her profile, including a convincing points victory over Italy’s Camilla Panatta in December. That bout marked a strong start to her partnership with Most Valuable Promotions, the company led by Jake Paul.

This upcoming fight will serve as the headline event for the promotion’s first show in the United Kingdom, adding further significance to the occasion.

Dubois has long been calling for a fight against Harper and remains supremely confident in her abilities. She boldly predicted that the contest would not go beyond seven rounds, reinforcing her aggressive mindset heading into the bout.

Harper’s Experience and Composure

While Dubois brings youthful energy and confidence, Harper offers experience and proven success at the highest level. At 29 years old, she boasts a professional record of 16 wins, two losses, and two draws.

Throughout her career, Harper has faced some of the biggest names in women’s boxing, including Sandy Ryan, Cecilia Braekhus, Natasha Jonas, and Alycia Baumgardner. Her achievements include winning world titles across multiple weight divisions, demonstrating her versatility and resilience.

Despite Dubois’ attempts to unsettle her, Harper has remained composed, often responding with calm gestures rather than heated reactions. During one face-off, she simply smiled, rolled her eyes, and shrugged off Dubois’ attempts to dominate the moment.

However, Harper also showed her determination not to be overshadowed. During a group photo session, she stepped in front of Dubois, sending a clear message that she would not be intimidated.

Verbal Exchanges Continue

The press conference featured several tense moments as the two fighters exchanged verbal jabs. Harper jokingly suggested that her microphone could be turned off, implying that Dubois would do enough talking for both of them.

She also revealed that she has been avoiding social media in order to stay focused on her preparation, accusing Dubois of being overly active online and not paying enough attention to the challenge ahead.

Dubois quickly responded, telling Harper not to “project,” as the back-and-forth continued.

A Brief Moment of Respect

Amid the tension, there was a short-lived moment of mutual respect between the fighters. Harper acknowledged that Dubois is the toughest opponent she has faced and confirmed that she has prepared thoroughly for the challenge.

Dubois returned the compliment, stating that she has no personal issues with Harper and believes her opponent is likely a good person outside the ring.

However, the truce did not last long. When Dubois suggested that respect must be earned inside the ring, Harper firmly rejected the idea, stating that she neither wants nor needs Dubois’ respect.

A Showcase for Women’s Boxing

The event at Olympia London is not just about the main fight—it also highlights the growing strength and depth of women’s boxing. Several top fighters, including Chantelle Cameron and Ellie Scotney, will also feature on the card.

Scotney emphasized the importance of the event, stating that it demonstrates how women’s boxing can match the excitement and quality of the men’s game.

In the co-main event, Scotney will face Mexico’s Mayelli Flores Rosquero for the undisputed super-bantamweight title, while Cameron aims to become a two-weight world champion when she takes on Michaela Kotaskova.

Other Key Fights on the Card

The event also includes a world title opportunity for Emma Dolan, who will challenge IBF super-flyweight champion Irma Garcia. Despite having significantly fewer professional fights than her experienced opponent, Dolan is eager to make her mark on the global stage.

Cameron, meanwhile, addressed questions about a potential trilogy fight with Katie Taylor. Having previously defeated Taylor before losing their rematch, Cameron stated that she believes that chapter is now closed, wishing her rival the best for the future.

Conclusion

As fight night approaches, the rivalry between Terri Harper and Caroline Dubois continues to intensify. With both fighters confident in their abilities and unwilling to back down, the stage is set for a thrilling contest.

Harper’s experience will be tested against Dubois’ youthful ambition, creating a compelling matchup that could define the future of the lightweight division.

Beyond the main event, the card represents a significant moment for women’s boxing, showcasing its growth and the incredible talent within the sport.
