Britain’s Dian Asher-Smith has been selected as one of the 10 nominees for the IAAF Awards 2018 for the Female World Athlete of the Year accolade. She has been selected or contention after standing out for a few months.
Dian managed to complete a splendid treble at the European Summer Championships held in Berlin. She managed to set the world leading times for 100 meters, 200 meters and 4*100 meters this year.
Her massive achievements have finally been noticed by the governing body for World Athletics. Other contenders for the award include the last year’s winner and Olympic, world and European heptathlon champion; Nafissatou Thiam and South Africa’s middle-distance runner Caster Semenya.
The nominees for the award have been selected by an international panel of athletics expert which includes representatives of athletics from six continental areas of the IAAF. They are going to choose the winner of the award on Tuesday, December 4th, 2018 in Monaco.
