The Baltimore Ravens have downgraded wide receiver Zay Flowers from doubtful to out for Sunday’s Week 2 game against the New Orleans Saints, the team announced on Saturday, September 19. Flowers aggravated a left hamstring injury during Baltimore’s 41-23 season-opening win at the Indianapolis Colts.
The Pro Bowl receiver had posted a career-high 150 receiving yards against the Colts before being pulled from the game. He missed the first two practices of the week and was a limited participant on Friday, when the Ravens listed him as doubtful, before he was officially ruled out on Saturday afternoon. It will be only the fourth game Flowers has missed in his NFL career.
Baltimore also placed cornerback T.J. Tampa on injured reserve with a knee injury. Wide receiver Ja’Kobi Lane (wrist) was already on IR, and left tackle Ronnie Stanley (toe) is listed as questionable for the Saints game.
With Flowers sidelined, Rashod Bateman is expected to serve as Lamar Jackson’s primary target, with LaJohntay Wester, Devontez Walker, Elijah Sarratt and Chris Moore the other receivers available.
The Saints (0-1), who lost 31-30 to Detroit in Week 1, visit the Ravens (1-0) at M&T Bank Stadium on Sunday, September 20, with kickoff at 1 p.m. ET (12 p.m. CT) on CBS.
