Speculation about Harry Kane’s future has been building in recent weeks, with reports linking the Bayern Munich striker to a potential return to Tottenham Hotspur or a big move to Manchester United.
The talk has only intensified after rumours of a €65 million (£56.7m) release clause emerged. But inside the club, Bayern’s directors are sending a very different message — they believe Kane is here to stay.
Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund was quick to dismiss concerns about losing their star forward, hinting that a contract extension could even be on the horizon. “We’re probably witnessing the best version of Harry Kane there has ever been,” Freund told Sky Germany.
“He’s a perfect player for us. Harry feels very comfortable in Munich — with the team, with the city, and with his family. That’s why we hope he will remain here for many more years.”
His colleague, director of sport Max Eberl, had a more relaxed take on the situation when asked about Kane last month. He suggested that at 32, Kane is “old enough to make his own decisions,” but Freund’s comments now offer stronger reassurance for Bayern supporters who fear their top scorer might be tempted away.
Kane’s current contract runs until 2027, following his high-profile €100 million switch from Tottenham last summer. By the time it expires, the England captain will be 34, but given his world-class fitness levels and incredible scoring consistency, it’s easy to see why Bayern may want to keep him well beyond that date. Freund, however, cautioned that discussions about a new deal are “still too early,” but added that both parties can “easily imagine” continuing together beyond the current agreement.
On the pitch, Kane has been nothing short of remarkable. His latest goal in Bayern’s 3–0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt made Bundesliga history, as he became the first player to score 11 goals in the first six matches of a season.
His ruthless finishing and natural leadership have made him central to Bayern’s plans both domestically and in Europe.
There was a moment of concern when Kane was substituted late in the Frankfurt game after picking up a knock. However, he quickly reassured fans and the England national team that there was nothing serious.
“I’ll be recovering for now. I took a bit of a knock, but give it a few days and everything should be fine. There should be no problem for the national team — I’ll be there on Monday,” Kane confirmed.
While Premier League clubs may still circle, the mood in Munich is clear: Harry Kane is thriving at Bayern, and the club wants him leading their attack for years to come. For now, the question is less about whether Kane will leave, and more about how many records he can break before his first season in Germany is over.
