Arsenal downs Man United by 2-0, Leicester wins over Newcastle by 3-0 in Premier League

In the first game of Mikel Arteta as the general manager for Arsenal held on Wednesday against Manchester United in Premier League, Arsenal downs Man United by 2-0. Arsenal was able to secure their win after their first half 2 goals scored by Nicolas Pépé and Sokratis Papastathopoulos respectively. 

Pépé came in the first half to score the opening goal during the 8th minute while the second goal from Sokratis was scored during the 42nd minute after the header from Alexandre Lacazette was parried by David De Gea; goalkeeper for Manchester United.

After collecting 1 point in the Premier League for Arsenal after replacing the previous manager Unai Emery, Arteta has managed to secure the first home win for Arsenal in the Premier League which is also the team’s first home win in last 3 months.

With this win Arsenal now climbs to the 10th spot in the Premier League rankings whereas united has now missed their chance to be in the places for the upcoming Champions League. United under the management of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has now fallen 5 points behind the 4th placed Chelsea in the league after they were held to a draw against Brighton.

As for another match of the Premier League held between Leicester and Newcastle, Ayoze Perez and James Maddison were both able to find a weakness in defense of Newcastle to gain a 3-0 victory for Leicester. With this, Leicester is slowly but surely closing in on their pursuit for the Premier League leader Liverpool.

The host played the game for the first 39 minutes with only 10 man team after Fabian Schar had to leave the field and all 3 of the subtitles being already in the game that was being watched by 52000+ crowd at the St. James’ Park. DeAndre Yedlin, the American defender of Newcastle played for the team despite suffering from a broken hand as the club still waits on his x-ray reports.
