In the ‘Group A’ match of the Badminton World Tour Finals, the Indian player PV Sindhu stunned the world as she defeated her opponent the World no. 1 Tai Tzu-Ying, who tasted defeat for the first time in the past two years.
Sindhu, exhausted after the match, dropped on her knees to celebrate her victory of 14-21, 21-16 and 21-18 over her Taiwanese opponent in a 62 minutes long match.
The match was held at the southern city of China named Guangzhou.
23 years old PV Sindhu is a silver medalist of the 2016 Rio Olympics will now face the American opponent Zhang Beiwen.
She is looking to make her three wins in the Group A for the 1.2 million pounds end of the year event.
Sindhu after the match said, “Each point was a hard fight. There were long rallies with good strokes. She made deceptive shots so I had to be on my feet for her strokes. Even though I was trailing ahead of her in the third game, I did not let my guard down even for a second”.
