Caroline Wozniacki and Angelique Kerber have both easily through the opening Wuhan Open matches

Caroline Wozniacki and Angelique Kerber have both been able to easily make it through the opening matches of the Wuhan Open held in China.

Wozniacki; World No. 2 was rarely troubled by the 61st ranked Swede Rebecca Peterson in their match and defeated her by 6-4 and 6-1.

28 years old is now set to face off against the Olympic Champion; Monica Pug who made her way past Aliaksandra Sasnovich by defeating her with 6-2 and 6-2.

Kerber on the other hand was able to progress in the tournament after her American opponent Madison Keys was forced to retire after a knee injury.

German was set on the goal of defeating the 2017’s US Open semi-finalist with a big in. she was lading with 6-0 and 4-1 but then Keys was not able to continue the match.

Kerber could now definitely become the World No. 1 after the success of this season. She told media that, “for me it is the most important thing that I go out there and play my best and try to enjoy and have fun for every single moment. We will see what is going to happen at the end of the year.”

Nine out of world’s top 10 are now competing in the 32.7 million dollars worth of Wuhan Open.
