Announced at a recent press conference, Hughie Fury has joined the Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing for a multi-fight promotion deal with his next fight to be soon announced at a press conference.
The huge size boxer from Manchester has long proven himself to be a great boxing talent out of UK and now the 24 years old boxer is finally ready to have his 3rd try at a world heavyweight title.
The only 2 career defeats that the 25-fight career of Hughie Fury is for the world title which was a 12-round close fight he lost on points for the WBO Title belt against Joseph Parker of New Zealand back in 2017 and another 12-round fight loss on points against Kubrat Pulev back in October of 2018 at the IBF Eliminator held in Sofia.
Fury said, “I am over the moon to be able to be signing with Eddie and be a part of a strong stable like the Matchroom. I feel that with Matchroom on my backing, I will be able to pull out my full potential. What this plate, there are going to be exciting times in the coming few years.”
As for Hughie Fury’s father and his trainer named Peter Fury, he said, “this is fantastic news for my son. People have forgotten that he is only 24 years old, which is like being a baby for the heavyweight division. Now him signing a deal with Matchroom, he will have a platform to achieve his goal to be at the top of the division and I have complete confidence that he can achieve this goal.”
As for the promoter Eddie Hearn himself, he said, “At such a young age, Hughie has been a fearless fighter to have taken on such strong world contenders. He faced Joseph parker for the world title when he was merely 23 years old and then to travel all the way to Bulgaria where he fought against Kubrat Pulev. I am really excited to see him fight a big fight soon at this time when the heavyweight division is at its hottest.”
