India managed to retain its seventh Asia Cup with a win of three wickets over Bangladesh in the 2018’s Asia Cup Final. India was able to win off the match in the last ball over despite the Bangladeshi opener Liton Das managing a maiden 100 scores in the first innings.
India was able to make the target of 223 runs rather modestly whereas Bangladesh had to fight severely for every score in front of a 25000 people strong crowd at Dubai Stadium.
Das in the first innings managed to make 121 scores from 117 balls with a dozen boundaries and two sixes. However Bangladeshi tam bowled out in 48.3 overs despite the long standing opening between two openers.
Rohit Sharma made a 48 with Shikar Dhawan making a 15 setting up the foundation before getting out. Dinesh Karthik made 37 runs while Mahindra Singh Dhoni added another 36 before giving the fourth wicket to Bangladesh.
With the lost of two wickets of Ravindra Jadeja at 23 runs and Bhuvneshwar Kumar at 21 runs, Bangladesh had six wickets in total and a strong chance of winning the match as India needed 8 more ruins in the last over. Kedar Jadhav made 23 runs and thus securing the victory for India at the very last ball of the last over.
With this loss, Bangladesh has lost twice its chance to win the Asia Cup. Once was back in 2012 when it lost to Pakistan and lost by just short of two runs.
Bangladesh lost all their wickets for 102 runs despite the major opening stand of 120 runs.
Hasan and Das attacked the fast pace spinners of India with spectacular play. However after Hasan’s got out by Jadhav in the 21st over, Bangladesh’s batting collapsed with loss of four more wickets until the score reached 151.
Hasan hit a total of three boundaries in his 59 balls receiving whereas Soumya Sarkar made a total of 33 runs off of 45 balls while hitting a boundary and a six.
