Jack Draper has ended his injury-hit 2026 season and is aiming to return to the ATP Tour at the start of 2027, the Briton announced in a statement on Tuesday, September 15.
“Don’t usually love lots of words on here but I wanted to update you that I am aiming to return to the tour at the start of 2027,” Draper wrote on social media. “I am taking this time to reset and heal so when I return I am 100% ready to go. Tennis is my purpose and passion and so when I step back on court I want to make sure that there’s nothing holding me back.”
The 24-year-old has been struggling with a long-term injury to his left arm, sustained at the 2025 US Open, which he described as “complicated”. He has been restricted to a tour-level record of 8-7 this year, with a quarter-final at Indian Wells and a semi-final at Eastbourne his best results, and has slipped to No. 155 in the PIF ATP Rankings. Draper reached a career-high No. 4 in 2025, the year he won his first ATP Masters 1000 title at Indian Wells.
Separately, the ATP confirmed on Wednesday, September 16 that Carlos Alcaraz has qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals for a fifth consecutive year. As Australian Open champion, Alcaraz is guaranteed to finish inside the top 20 of the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin, which secures his place under the tournament’s Grand Slam champion rule.
Alcaraz joins Wimbledon champion Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev, winner of Roland Garros and the US Open, as the first three qualifiers. The season-ending championships take place at the Inalpi Arena in Turin from November 15 to 22, 2026.
