Jazz Bear mascot of the Utah jazz has been fired by the team

A new man is going to be wearing the iconic costume of the Jazz Bear costume for the fan of Utah Jazz at the NBA home opener for the team.

Jon Absey the previous wearer of the costume had been with the team since 1994 but he is now no longer with the organization. He was fired by the team last week. The news has been confirmed by Utah media staff and the reason for his firing is the Jazz strife.

Frank Zang; one of the spokespeople for the team said, “Jazz Bear will continue to be the most iconic mascot in the NBA. Due to the respect for the character, we have never discussed the identity of its wearer. We do not like to discuss the personal matters of the wearer.”

Absey has worn this costume for the team at about 800 home games. He also won the 2017-18 NBA Mascot of the Year award this summer. This was the third time he won this award.

Now there is going to be a new face inside the team’s mascot costume when they will host the defending NBA champions; Golden State Warriors.
