JD NXTGEN; Anthony Sims Jr. gets stoppage win while Leigh Wood wins the Commonwealth belt

On the JD NXTGEN bill held in Peterborough, Anthony Sims Jr. won the fight by stoppage against Mateo Damian Veron during the sixth round of their fight.

The 24 years old unbeaten American boxer was a class above his opponent from Argentina since the opening bell. He displayed his barrage of punches from the get-go as he sealed the 18th victory of his career in a grand style.

Sims Jr. with a swift jab in the first round gauge out his opponent Veron. Son Veron had to withstand a barrage of swift right hands from his opponent who is nicknamed “The Magician”.

By the sixth round, Sims Jr. had seen enough of his opponent and a big right hand sent Veron crashing on to the ropes. Veron tried to get back up but was once again floored heavily as the referee waived off the fight.

Earlier on the same evening, Leigh Wood also claimed his Commonwealth Featherweight belt after he defeated Abraham Osei Bonsu in the second round of the fight.

Wood focused on targeting the body of his Ghanaian opponent and dropped him to his knees. Bonus once down failed to beat the count after he was floored by Wood the second time.
