Juan Marin del Potro is unable to attend the TAP Finals in London after suffering a fractured kneecap injury at the Shanghai Masters.
Del Potro who is the world no. 4, retired during the third round of his match against Borna Coric on Thursday. Medical reports have cleared the suspicion that he has suffered from a fractured patella bone of his right knee.
Del Potro said to media that, “it is a very difficult moment for me. I feel very sad. This is a hard blow for me that leave me out with no strength. I am currently unable to even think about complete recovery. I was not at all expecting this to happen.”
In the recent few months, Del Potro managed to reach the finals of US Open and China Open.
After he retired from his match against Coric on Thursday he described to be hurting his knee.
He said, “I had a bad fall during the match. It was due to a weird movement of the game with my knee and hit the floor very bad. I felt intense pain.”
Currently, it is not known as to when Del Potro is going to make a comeback with full recovery to the sport. The doctors said that they are currently evaluating the situation and the results will come in the coming days.
Del Potro was third on points for his race to London.
