Shanghai Masters; Roger Federer to face Borna Coric in the semi finals

The top seed and the defending champion of the Shanghai Masters; Roger Federer had to fight a pretty intense game against Kei Nishikori but ultimately defeated his opponent. Now he is set to face off against Borna Coric in the semifinals.

Federer might have been not in his best form after coming to quarterfinals by consecutively defeating Daniil Medvedev and Roberto Bautista but the champ still managed to win a thrilling match by 6-4, and 7-6. His allowed him to remain on course for the 99th ATP career singles title of his career.

Federer said in a post-match interview, “I am glad to make it out in two. I somehow managed to do it. I am very happy with my level of playing this week.”

Kei Nishikori who was the finalist in Tokyo last week managed to save five break points in the start of the match but gradually faltered as the match’s pressure began to build up.

As for Borna Coric the 13th seed player of the event, he managed to make it into the last four of the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event. He defeated his opponent, the Australian Matthew Edben by 7-5 and 6-4.

Federer’s remarks related to Coric were these, “he has really improved his game. He now steps into the court and hopes to make shots more than he ever used to. His defense is good and his game is in transition with a solid serve. I hope that I can take him out.”
