Kiki Bertens wins the WTA finals after a stunning Final’s win over Angelique Kerber

Kiki Bertens managed to win the WTA Final against opponent Angelique Kerber in the decisive third set. She did so with seven consecutive breaks to win the event in Singapore.

Dutch player; Kiki Bertens was the lowest seeded player in the eight player event but she held on to her nerves and closed in her victory with 1-6, 6-3 and 6-4 in a 2 hour long match.

Bertens qualified for the season ending tournament after Simona Halep’s withdrawal from the event suffering from back injury. She made 45 unforced errors but still shocked the crowd and her German opponent; the top seed of the event with her impressive aggressive play.

In a post game media talk, Bertens said, “I am really happy to get this in today here. It was indeed a slow start but I turned around this match. I also had a little talk with my coach when it was not going well, so we decided to play a little more aggressive and in the end, it worked out”.
