Erste Bank Open; Kyle Edmund defeats Diego Schwartzman in Vienna

Kyle Edmund; British’s no. 1 has managed to reach into the second round of the Ertz Bank Open after defeating his Argentinean opponent Diego Schwartzman by 6-3, 7-6.

23 years old Edmund who won his first ATP Tour Title at the European Open on Sunday continued to perform brilliantly and added another accomplishment to his career.

Edmund is now going o face off Spaniard Fernando Verdasco in the tournament. Edmund; the world no. 14 previously lost to Schwartzman who is ranked only three places below him last year in Toronto at a match on hard court. However, with his Wednesday’s win, he has now five consecutive wins in his career. He has won 11 out of 13 matches this year.

On the other hand, the European Open’s other finalist Gael Monfils also recovered from his previous defeat and progressed in this event by defeating Steve Johnson by 4-6, 6-3 and 6-2. His next meeting is booked with fourth seed player John Insen.

Karen Khachanov also progresses in the event after defeating Denis Novak by 6-3 and 7-5. Mikhail Kukushkin has added the third victory against Top 190 opponents of tennis by defeating the last year’s ATP final Champion; Grigor Dimitrov by 6-4, 4-6 and 6-4.
