Munich Open; Garin wins the tournament after beating Berrettini

Cristian Garin of Chile managed to win the Much Open’s final match against Matteo Berrettini by 6-1, 3-6 and 7-6 to win the title of Munich Open on Sunday.

This was his second title in a period less than a month of him winning the first ATP title in Houston.

22 years old Garin was able to save 8 of his 10 break points as he presented his best tennis performance to end the Italian player’s splendid win streak of 9 matches.

Earlier in the tournament, Berrettini defeated the 4th seed of the tournament Roberto Bautista Agut by 6-4 and 6-2 in the semifinals.

As for the world rank no. 47 grain, he ousted the 2-time defending champion of the tournament and the world rank no. 3 Alexander Zverev to set up a semi with the 3rd seeded player Marco Cecchinato and then a match against Berrettini.

Two months back, Garin was ranked as world no. 92 but has now prhjecyt4ed to his all-time career high of 33.

With this win over the world rank no. 37 Matteo Berrettini, Gairn has managed to match the Guido Pella’s 190 wins on clay for this season.
