Naomi Osaka who got defeated in her Chain Open semi-final match said after the match that, ‘she has been stressed out by living up to her US Open win”.
Osaka; a month after winning the US open, was defeated by the unseeded player of China Open, Anastasija Seveastova in the semifinals by 6-4 and 6-4.
Osaka told media post-game; “I was thinking that definitely as the week goes by I was having a feeling of proving myself. I think that took a toll on myself and I stressed myself out thinking that way”.
She further stated to media that, “If you don’t win the tournament, people will say ‘oh she did not win the tournament’. If you have not won a slam they will say ‘oh she has not won a slam’ and if you win one slam they say ’oh she only won one Grand Slam’. I know this is bad but I read those comments. I was just like; I guess I have to do more to be better”.
