Pakistan gains 49-run victory to knock out South Africa out of the World Cup

In a thriller match between Pakistan and South Africa held at the Lord, Pakistan thumped out South Africa out of the World Cup with a 49-run victory.

Harris Sohail was the lead of the Pakistani batt8ing order after he made quick 89 runs off of 59 balls as he struck 9 fours and 3 sixes. He was aided in his effort by Babar Azam who himself scored 69 runs off of 44 balls.

The oncoming batsmen like Imam Ul Haq and Fakhar Azam helped the Pakistani team to set a target for 309 runs against the Proteas.

South Africa was in need of this win for keeping their slim chances of being able to qualify for the semi finals but soon those hopes cam crumbling don when they lost Hashim Amla in the 2nd over after he made 2 runs.

Muhammad Amir who got 2 wickets while giving away 49 runs and Shadab Khan who got 3 wickets at the loss of 50 runs where the top bowlers for Pakistan as they restricted Proteas hopes at 259-9. Faf du Plessis was the top scorer for the Proteas as he scored 69 runs.

Despite South Africa having two more qualifying matches, they are still 5 points behind the fourth place England who currently have 8 points. As for Pakistan they are still in hunt for the semis with their 5 points and still 3 games remaining.

Pakistan won the toss earlier and chose to bat first with openers Imam Ul Haq and Fakhar Zaman who went to hold on for a strong partnership that set the tone of the entire inning.

After Pakistani team ended their innings rather splendidly, South Africa got off to a rocky start with Amir trapping Hashim Amla with an lbw on his first ball of the over. Still the fast bowler needed a DRS for confirming the out.
