Sascha Bajin who is the coach of this year’s US Open Champion Naomi Osaka has won the WTA Coach of the Year award after due to his help of allowing Naomi Osaka to win her maiden Grand Slam title.
In their first season as a team, Naomi Osaka won her first WTA title at the Indian Wells and her second major win of the year was in the US Open in New York where she won against the 22 times Grand Slam champion Serena Williams in a controversial match.
Bajin upon receiving the news of winning this award wrote a post on a tweet where he stated that he was “speechless” and turned a bit red. He also added to his statement that its easy to be a good coach if you have a great student.
Petra Kvitova earned herself her sixth consecutive Sportsmanship Award and the seventh overall of her career. As for the Player Service Award, it went into hands of Bethanie Mattek-Sands.
