Toronto Raptors lost their groove in the second half by blowing up their 20-point lead. They were able to manage their win in the OT.
Pascal Siakam scored 33 points along with 13 rebounds while Fred VanVleet scored 23 points with 6 assists as Raptors win over the OKC Thunder by 123-114 in the OT on Wednesday night.
This was Raptors first win out of their last 2 games as they outscored Thunder’s by 13-4 in OT.
T0ronto Raptors, the Atlantic Division leaders managed to end their 4-game losing streak against the OKC Thunder despite playing without their starting guard Kyle Lowry. Lowry was sidelined due to his sprained left ankle injury.
Nick Nurse, the Raptors coach said, “Lots of times when you go to OT after blowing a lead, the advantage is in hands of the team that gets the game to OT and the other team comes out flat. However, tonight it was not the case for us. We came out well and played even better especially on our defensive end. This is a great sign for us.”
As for OKC Thunder, they were led by Russell Westbrook, who made a comeback from his 1-game suspension following too many technical fouls, scored 42 points with 11 rebounds as well as 6 assists. With this loss, Thunder’s have now lost 4 games in a row and 10 of their last 14 games. This loss puts OKC Thunder to be sixth in the ranking of Western Conference.
Paul George of Thunder’s said, “I knew it was a close game. If we win we know where we are at and if we lose we know where we are going at. We control our own destiny.”
Up next, Toronto Raptors will host a game against the OKC Thunder on Friday night. Thunder will be playing against them again on Friday night.
