England begin a six-match white-ball series against Sri Lanka on 15 September in Southampton, comprising three One Day Internationals and three T20 Internationals. Harry Brook captains England’s 16-player squad, which includes Rehan Ahmed, Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Tom Banton, Sonny Baker, Jos Buttler, Jordan Cox, Henry Crocombe, Liam Dawson, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Jamie Overton, Adil Rashid, Joe Root and Josh Tongue. Jamie Overton returns across both formats after a long injury lay-off, while Henry Crocombe earns his first ODI call-up. Sam Curran and Phil Salt both remain unavailable as they continue their respective recoveries.
Sri Lanka’s challenge
Sri Lanka travel under ODI captain Kusal Mendis, though he was ruled out of the T20I leg of the tour through injury. With England fresh off a series win over India and boasting the firepower of Buttler, Root and Brook at the top of the order, Sri Lanka will need big performances with both bat and ball to disrupt the hosts’ momentum heading into the series opener.
