Pat Brown claimed the vacant British and Commonwealth cruiserweight titles on Saturday, September 19, stopping John Hedges in the sixth round of their main event at Co-op Live in Manchester. The finish came at 2:36 of the round after Brown had twice dropped Hedges with body shots.
The victory improves Brown’s record to 7-0 with seven knockouts, and he also picked up the WBA International and IBF Intercontinental cruiserweight belts. Hedges suffers the first defeat of his professional career and drops to 12-1 with three knockouts. The card was broadcast on DAZN.
Brown, fighting for only the seventh time as a professional, has now stopped every opponent he has faced inside the distance and adds domestic and Commonwealth honours to a rapidly growing résumé.
On the undercard, Shabaz Masoud retained his WBA International and IBF Intercontinental featherweight titles with a unanimous decision over Ckari Cani Mansilla (100-90 on all three cards), and Mark Jeffers beat Kieron Conway on points (97-93, 96-94, 97-93) in a British super-middleweight title eliminator. Cory O’Regan won the English lightweight title with a unanimous decision over Joe Howarth (98-92, 99-91, 99-91).
Elsewhere on the bill, Alfie Middlemiss stopped Christopher Mondongo when his opponent retired after four rounds, Tom Rafferty knocked out Liam Walsh in the second round, Garan Croft stopped Mohammed Graich inside the first round, and Jack Power and Emily Whitworth both won six-round points decisions.
