Daniel Cormier vs. Derrick Lewis; new highlight of the UFC 230 at Madison Square Garden

Earlier on Tuesday, UFC heavyweight Derrick Lewis told a radio station MMAJunkie that a fight for the UFC 230 title is still too early with the two-time division champion Daniel Cormier.

Leis also said that his onion about fight can change if the UFC sweetens the pot with a little extra cash.

However, after few hours of Derrick’s interview, the UFC boss Dana White told media reporters that “Wouldn’t you know that the fight between Lewis and Cormier is set to happen on November 3rd which is a pay per view event and that the event is going to take place at Madison Square Garden”.

After a while, Lewis’s management also confirmed the matchup. UFC formally announced the match on Wednesday night.

Lewis last fought in UFC 229 against ex-Bellator champion Alexander Volkov. During their fight, Lewis seemed to be headed for a unanimous decision defeat with hi being all exhausted and battered by Alexander’s punches hover he made an astonishing comeback with a hook shot that knocked Alexander out with only 13 seconds remaining for the final bell.

Cormier was supposed to be waiting for the 2019 heavyweight title fight against Brock Lesnar. The proposal was made after he won his light heavyweight title back in 2016 after defeating Stipe Mioci at the UFC 226 in Las Vegas.

Nate Diaz’s opponent Dustin Poirer after suffering an injury has backed out of UFC 230 lightweight fight. It is currently unknown If Diaz will remain on the card for a new opponent to fight against.
