Erste Bank Open; Fernando Verdasco puts a stop to Kyle Edmund’s winning streak in Vienna

Kyle Edmund suffered the defeat at hands of Fernando Verdasco in Vienna at the Erste bank Open 500.

British no. 1 Edmund won his first main tour trophy last week on Sunday at European Open. He followed his splendid play from last week by winning the first round of the Erste bank Open against Diego Schwartzman.

However, unfortunately for Edmund, his hopes to go ahead further in the tournament ended after he was defeated by Verdasco by 6-4, 3-6 and 6-3. The match lasted for about 1 hour and 55 minutes.

Verdasco now moves to the quarter finals of the tournament and will face off against Gael Monfils who made it to quarterfinals after defeating fourth seed John Insen by 6-4 and 6-4.

As for Edmund, he is now going to travel to Paris for the final Masters tournament of this year’s season. He needs to win this event if he wants to qualify for the ATP Finals in London.
